DEFEND JERUSALEM IS DEMANDING THAT THE STATE OF ISRAEL ENFORCE COURT ORDERS THAT PERTAIN TO KHADIJA KHWEISS, AKA “ABU GHALIA,” A SENIOR COMMANDER IN THE MURABITAT TERRORIST ORGANIZATION

DEFEND JERUSALEM has requested that Adv. Nurit Litman, the Deputy State Attorney for Special Tasks, use the powers of her good office to enforce the numerous legal actions and court orders concerning Khadija Khweiss. Khweiss, a forty-four-year-old senior commander in the Jerusalem-based Murabitat organization is an individual well-known to the Israeli National Police (INP) and the security services. and a dangerous individual whose actions and intentions pose a clear and present danger to the security of the State of Israel. The Murabitat organization is a militant group of Muslim women that operates on the Temple Mount and its surrounding areas—especially the Old City. The Murabitat’s sole objective is violence. The group has organized clashes with the security forces; her incitement has resulted in bloodshed.

The Murabitat’s nefarious activities are well-known to the Israeli authorities. Several of the group’s members—including Khweiss—have been the subject of temporary numerous restraining orders and expulsion orders but have somehow managed to ignore them and thumb her nose at the authorities. Khweiss and some of the other militant leaders remain inside Israeli territory despite the court orders. Exacerbating the security threat that Khweiss poses to Israel, she was allowed to travel.

On July 2, 2021, Khweiss visited Turkey as a guest of Emine Erdoğan, wife of Turkish  president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. President Erdoğan is a well-known and active supporter of Palestinian and Islamic terrorist movements, and the Turkish First Lady invited Khweiss to Turkey to commend and decorate her for her “honorable struggle.”

Khadija Khweiss has become an international player in the war against Israel and she now colludes with the state-sponsor of incitement and violence against Israelis and Jews. Khweiss uses this stature to further exacerbate tensions inside Jerusalem and to incite Israel’s Arab citizens toward violence.

Arrests, court orders, and security service efforts have not slowed down Khweiss’s terrorist-related activities—quite to the contrary, she has been emboldened by Israel’s legal system not taking decisive action against her. The fact that the court orders have not been enforced has created a volatile security situation that must not be allowed to continue. As a result, DEFEND JERUSALEM is demanding that immediate and decisive action be taken.
